Murrindindi, a descendant of the Wurundjeri people, came to assembly to talk to us and present our captains with their badges. He performed a smoking ceremony to clear the space and set us up for a good year.
On Tuesday we were extremely lucky to receive a visit from Tennis Victoria and Alicia Molik. All our Prep students received their own tennis racquet to take home, as well as every student in the school receiving a Tennis Hot Shots magazine and a t-shirt. At a fantastic assembly students learnt lots about tennis. Our Year 2 students then participated in tennis clinics with Alicia. Prep, Year 1 and Year 5 students also enjoyed playing tennis with all the new equipment donated to our school by Tennis Victoria and ANZ. Over the last 3 years Tennis Victoria has donated more than $5000 worth of tennis equipment to our PE program, so that we are able to teach tennis to all students. We are very grateful for their donations and for providing this great opportunity for our students to meet Alicia Molik. Congratulations to Ryan who was the 30,000th child to register with the Tennis Hot Shots in School Program and was lucky enough to play tennis with Alicia!
